Mrs Nirupama Chetan
School Director
Nirupama has worked in the sphere of formative years education for 15 + years. A firm believer in the advantages of the Montessori system, she completed her Montessori training at the Indian Montessori Training Centre (IMTC) at Bangalore in the year 2003.
"Everyday experiences with children are an amazing way of gaining a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the childs mind", she says. Nirupama feels that the present education system in the world has drawn lines to ensure a win-win and result oriented environment for the child.
However based on her experience and expertise gathered over a period of time, she believes in guiding the young minds while they explore and learn to accept the practicalities of life, to let go and create a new reality which could be still better and beautiful from the "drawn lines".
Mrs. Mitali Nandi
Principal Mentor
Mitali has an illustrious educational background only matching her professional work
experience. She did her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Biology and Master of Arts (M.A)
in Political Science from University of Madras. When she started her career in teaching
science to children at various levels in Asia and Africa, it got her interested in mentoring
small children. Mitali took her Diploma in Montessori Methodology from Indian
Montessori Centre (IMC), Bangalore.
Based on her work experience, she feels that in spite of having the best methodology /
curriculum in our country today, there is a lack of direction in terms of tapping into the
inherent strength within the child towards developing the personality, increasing the
confidence level in life skills, independent decision making capabilities in the child/
student. This is the aspect where she wants to make a difference and bring about a
change.
Before joining Nurture, Mitali has worked in several institutions including National
Center for Excellence – Bangalore, Ardee School – Delhi, and Air Force School in
northern parts of India.
Mitali is a voracious reader. She enjoys classical dance and has choreographed dance
recitals for students in many schools. She likes meeting people and has traveled widely.
Mrs. Sumithra
Associate Mentor
Sumithra did her 1 year full time certification course with IMTC (Indian Montessori Training Centre). Having children of her own, the key characteristic trait that stands out is her calmness and patience with children, whatever the situation may be. She strongly believes that the 2 to 6 years period is the most important and exciting phase of growth for the children and her focus and drive is to bring out the best in them during the time spent in the school and beyond.
She enjoys gardening, listening to music and reading.
Ms. Chaitra T

Chaitra is passionate about environment conservation and has contributed significantly this field. Chaitra is one of the star primary caregiver in the crèche with the children always looking forward to spending time with her.
Mrs. Vishnu Priya
Principal Facilitator
Vishnu Priya endeavors for Nurture children to be independent, self-driven learners, who savour the joy of learning.
Vishnu Priya did her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Women’s Christian College(WCC), Chennai and went on to do her Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree from Guindy Engineering College, Chennai. She completed her one year Montessori certification from Chennai Montessori Training Center CMTC (aligned with Indian Montessori Center IMC) in 1999. Since then she has been working in the field of child education.
She got interested in Montessori method in her search for a natural way of learning to suit her young son. She found out that it helped her understand better her child, other children and eventually the society at large.
Although she used to be a practicing architect, there was no going back after she found that children by simply being who they are can show us the way. Thereafter she found it meaningful and fulfilling to associate herself as a facilitator amongst children in a “Montessori house of children”.
One of her quests in life is to make the “Montessori method” of learning accessible to all the children in India and not just for the so called “privileged” ones.
Mrs. Rupa Sundar
After passing out from Bain School, Rupa did her Bachelors in Economics from Ethiraj College, Chennai. After that she pursued her MBA specializing in HR and Marketing. Subsequently she worked in the HR wing of a multinational software company for 5 years.
Rupa came across the Montessori philosophy and method when scouting around for a good school for her 2 year old toddler. So she took up the 1 year full time certification training program from Center for Montessori Training, Chennai (CMTC) with the aim of understanding and educating her child in the Montessori way.
On completing the course, Rupa feels that not only she has gained knowledge about the method, but it has also facilitated in a more holistic understanding, the needs and requirements of young children. But for this she feels that it would have been difficult to unlearn the society's perceptions and preconceived notions about child upbringing.
In her words "I joined the Montessori training course to understand and gain insights into mentoring of my child and it has ended up being part of my life. I have now the opportunity to be part of a great learning process, that of young minds. To be able to facilitate this learning is exciting and meaningful at Nurture"
Rupa during her spare time enjoys cooking (not so much now), travelling – trekking, visiting new places and reading books – fiction, and related to travel & philosophy.
